A refreshing and practical approach

Paul brings a refreshing and practical approach to golf instruction. Having worked with Paul for a number of years, it is clear that his number one objective, for all his clientele, is to improve their personal progress as a player. As both a student of the game and a successful playing professional, he possesses a unique ability to differentiate between improving the effectiveness of a golf swing and merely improving it on an aesthetic level. Paul prioritises on the areas that will have the greatest impact to your game - the areas that will see you posting lower numbers.

Put simply, Paul understands not only what you are doing, but why you are doing it. With root of the cause in mind, he provides simple but effective solutions that result in noticeable differences out on the golf course.

Fantastic, friendly and very patient teacher

Paul is a fantastic, friendly and very patient teacher. He has improved my game immeasurably in only a small number of lessons. I have already recommended him to a number of friends!!

I couldn't recommend Paul highly enough.

I have worked with Paul several times now on my game and have been extremely impressed with his knowledge of the full golf swing and short game techniques. Through videoing my swing and hitting balls on the launch monitor, Paul was quickly able to establish what needed to be improved and worked on and then helped me put a plan in place. My game has gone from strength to strength and a lot of this has come through the advice and guidance Paul has provided me with.

I couldn't recommend Paul highly enough.

Best decision I could have made

In late 2012, facing a more difficult golf course at East Berks (due to the significant course renovations), this markedly showed up my lack of a reproducible golf swing and playing consistency, and gave me little satisfaction or confidence with my game. As a last attempt to get more target accuracy, height, length and swing consistency, I signed up with Paul's course of 1:1 lessons in March 2013, which was the best decision I could have made. We are now in December and I feel that over these 9 months, I am much more positive and on course for improvement and enjoyment in all aspects of my game next year. Please don't suffer in silence, book some lessons with Paul and over time he'll take you on your journey of self-discovery to find your golfing potential, if that is your goal.

Paul is a diligent and dedicated professional

Paul is a diligent and dedicated professional. I can honestly say that any time spent with him for lessons will immeasurably improve your game. I have had the opportunity to play many competitions with Paul and his enthusiasm for our sport is infectious.

He has excellent technical knowledge

I am happy to recommend Paul to anyone who wants to seriously improve their game. He has excellent technical knowledge but where he really excels is in his ability to communicate that knowledge so that the improvements he helps you to make, stay with you permanently. He is an example of someone who is seriously good at what they do but has a genuine interest in passing on that skill and enthusiasm to others.

My game has improved dramatically

I started playing golf late in life and have been playing for around 5 years. Paul has been coaching me for 2 years and over this time my game has improved dramatically. Paul has a very calm and focussed approach to coaching. He very quickly identified my weaknesses and we concentrated on improving these. It is a pleasure working with Paul and his advice and encouragement has led to me enjoying my golf more and more.

Paul quickly identified my problems

I first went to Paul in the summer of 2012, 6 months after I had taken up golf and joined Sonning Golf Club. At the time I was in a desperate situation, as I had a severe slice on my drives, was cutting all of my irons and duffing a lot of chips, subsequently losing a lot of distance on every shot and struggling to put a decent score together.

Paul quickly identified my problems and put together a plan for me to work on whilst practising at the range, between lessons, to help remove the slice and to address the other set up issues that I had with my game. This is helped by the precise notes, photos and videos that Paul supplies via email after each lesson, allowing you to quickly revisit the lesson.

Since my first lesson Paul has subsequently worked on all other aspects of my game including chipping, putting, bunker play and also course management. Paul has a great manner about himself and truly wants to understand what are the weak areas of your game, so that you can work on them together to help improve scoring and perhaps more importantly improve your confidence in taking these shots on.

The biggest improvement I have seen with Paul (other than the removal of my slice) has been on my short games, as Paul was quick to explain the potential benefits this would offer me. I now have the confidence to take shots on, the ability to control and stop the ball around the greens, giving me a much better chance of scoring well and getting up and down if I am in trouble.

The improvement in my game since my first lesson back in the summer of 2012 has been dramatic, my club handicap has dropped by 8 shots and I have had numerous top 5 finishes in club competitions, which also include two second place finishes.

I cannot speak highly enough of the professionalism of Paul and the dedication he shows in trying to help you improve your game, he has a very patient manner and is very articulate in the way he explains what he wants to you to do and how best to do it. To top it all, Paul is a very approachable and friendly guy and I would not hesitate to recommend Paul to anyone who needs help with their game or is simply looking to improve and take their game to the next level.
